𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐘𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐭 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛'𝐬 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲: 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐕𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐬 Embark on the fascinating tale of our yacht club's origin. It all started when a group of passionate sailing enthusiasts conceived the idea of forming a yacht club. On November 21, 1960, they gathered for the first time in response to 𝐖𝐮𝐥𝐟 𝐋𝐨𝐬𝐜𝐡'𝐬 Namib Times invitation—a pivotal moment that set our sails in motion. Notably, 𝐕𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐨 𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐝, with ties to the 𝐑𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐘𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐭 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛, obtained a copy of their constitution, which underwent careful edits to align with our purpose. This led to an inaugural meeting on April 24, 1961, at the Mermaid Hotel, chaired by 𝐌𝐫. 𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐝. The meeting unfolded seamlessly, marking a significant chapter in our club's history. Fast forward to Sunday, March 22, 1964—the grand opening of our club-house. 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐄.𝐉. 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐬𝐨𝐧-𝐇𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐬, Chaplain to the Mission to Seamen, performed the blessing of the building, and 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐬𝐲 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐦𝐚, 𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐥𝐥𝐫 𝐌.𝐂. (𝐁𝐨𝐞𝐭) 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐦𝐚'𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐟𝐞, cut the ceremonial ribbon, concluding phase 1 of our club's history in under three years. Today, the warm embrace of Namibia awaits all sailing enthusiasts. Our Clubhouse, offering stunning sunset views and overlooking the Marina, extends a hearty welcome.
